SO WHAT?

If one is to search for a church that uses the true Word of God, which includes the Authorized Version of the Bible, it might be amazing after finding one to discover that the church policy and manuals allows women to be Deacons, yet declares that the church is to honor the Holy Bible.

Is there integrity to be found today and is is proper to be yoked with so-called Saints who have a “So What” attitude toward the faithfulness of our calling?

This “new Age” manner of ‘do your own spiritual thing’ whatever it might be has taken from the churches of God the faithfulness that God has sought for among us. “How is one to judge, anyway?”, they may ask when confronted with these sins.  Does the Word of God which says not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, mean otherwise?  If it takes judgment on one’s part to discern another’s manner of “faithfulness”, then should not one be the judge in this matter and with admonition and sorrow leave these brethren and if so, where should one go?

That is the next question, where? The traditional Spirit filled churches of  thirty years ago are a thing of history, found no more today. The old altar calls are gone with the tears that brought men to the cross of Christ. The great hymns and songs of power and grace are mostly gone, replaced with New Age slam-bang ‘praise’ choruses with their meaningless repetitious chants. Water Baptism is a relic; divine healing is a thing of the past, as are miracles and prophetic messages. Children are no longer found with their parents in the Sanctuary learning the reverence expected of God’s children. The boys and girls clubs are no more. Circle meetings throughout the week are gone also, as are the home Bible studies. The main topic of conversation before and after the worship time (1 hour max.) is sports and upcoming pot luck or some other eating event or where the best restaurants are.

If it were not for a wonderful friend who loves the Lord as I do, I wonder what I would do for spiritual wellness. We meet every week on Saturday morning for about three hours and share the wonders of the Lord. We travel about distributing Gospel tracts and engaging people in things of the Lord. We are able by this experience to know why Jesus sent His Disciples out in pairs. Each one encourages the other on an almost daily basis by phone or e-mail. I suppose if we were to share this arrangement with these well organized New Agers, they would say, “So What”.

But, I remember what Jesus said about just a couple of His people; He said, For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”(Matthew 18:20 KJV) The power and joy of such an arrangement is beyond expression. Not only are we worshipping and witnessing but we are also able to help needy people when we meet them, since our tithe is in our hands to do with as the Lord opens doors and directs.  The world is all around us and crying to find reality. As I think about it, Jesus’ ministry was this very sort. He ministered on the streets and in homes while at the same time showing the synagogues of His day what there faults were.  Just as He was rejected so will we who follow Him be rejected.

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”   (Luke 6:46)

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”  (Matthew 7:21-23)
