THE WHEAT AND TARES

“Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.” (Matthew 13:24-30 AV)

John the Baptist, speaking of Jesus prophesied that He would baptize with the Holy Ghost and FIRE!  Also, we know of the eternal Lake of Fire that shall be the fate of the enemy.  Notice the fate of the tares that they shall be burned at the time of harvest. Remember also the two plowing in the field, one taken and the other left.  Then recall the parable of the sheep and goats, on the right and the left hands, the goats going into everlasting punishment.  In all these cases the common element is evil intermingled with the righteous.  There is no way that this can take place among God’s people without deception, a work of human intelligence enhanced by the cunning of the enemy.

The seeds of this deceptive planting of tares is not a new work, but ancient, even begun in the Garden of Eden when the enemy said, “you will not surely die”.   Today we hear the same thing in the same spirit of deception, “don’t feel bad, we’re all sinners and grace will cover our sins”.  Somehow we need to remember the words of both John the Baptist and Jesus, “Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand”.             This deception means the same thing told to Eve on that fateful day so long ago, “you won’t die from sin because we are all in the same boat, and we are on the way to Heaven; just have faith and believe it”.  These are the tares who in turn invite others out of the world to join with this happy group of Christians, “all of whom are sinners just like we are, but saved and on the way to Heaven“.  The seeds keep falling and reproducing. Some of the tares love this arrangement so much they enroll in a seminary where the same deception is taught in a most learned fashion giving the deception even greater dignity and pomp that can hardly be resisted by lay people who depend on these clerics to lead them to the realms of Heaven.

The Bible tells those who know the truth to rebuke the sinner; “Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.” (1 Timothy 5:20 AV) There must be in the Body of Christ the manifestation of Truth to keep the enemy from deceiving the simple. The Apostle Paul instructed Timothy concerning this as follows: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:2-4 AV)
